Why Shred?

Identity theft and unauthorized disclosure of private information has reached epidemic proportions.

According to the Better Business Bureau, last year alone this crime claimed more than 8.9 million victims. But information theft is not just something that affects consumers. The FBI estimates that information theft costs American businesses as much as $24 Billion in losses each and every year.

With over 40 federal and state laws mandating that all businesses, healthcare facilities and financial institutions protect the confidential information of their customers, clients and patients, it’s imperative that you establish a shredding program. Failure to do so can expose your organization to severe fines, bad publicity and lost business.

Certified by the Mobile Shredding Association

WesTex Document is one of only six shredding companies in Texas that has been certified by the Mobile Shredding Association (MSA).  All MSA Members are required to meet audited security standards for membership. We are also a National Association for Information Destruction (NAID) Certified Member and have been for over 15 years. We were the first in Texas to earn NAID and MSA Certification. In order to be certified by MSA and NAID a shredding company must shred all documents in the most secure way possible, on site at their client’s facility. They must also comply in a number of critical areas, including shred size, employee background checks and drug tests, confidentiality agreements with employees, and insurance protection. But why stop there? We are the only privately held corporation in the U.S.  that meets the DOE Nuclear Quality Assurance (NQA1) program standards for handling documents under DOE procedures. This program is far, far more demanding to meet than any trade association’s and our programs and processes are audited over the course of several days and subject to unannounced audits for NQA standards. As is said, “You get what you pay for,” so you can always find someone cheaper to meet your needs, but none better than WesTex Document.
